Vamos aprender alguns usos da palavra Bit.

1. Um pouco: A bit

Exemplos:

A) We ate a bit of bread. (Nós comemos um pouco de pão.)

B) They need a bit of love. (Eles precisam de um pouco de amor.)

A) Is she happy about that?”Not a bit!” (Ela está feliz com isso?”Nem um pouco!”)

5. Fazer sua parte: To do your bit Exemplo:

A) They´re doing their bit.(Eles estão fazendo a parte deles.)

Idioms? What are they?

Os idiomas, ou expressões idiomáticas, são assim designados porque só fazem sentido numa determinada língua (língua = idioma), sendo a sua tradução literal geralmente impossível.

Por exemplo, 'it's raining cats and dogs' é um idioma da língua inglesa que em português, se traduzido para 'está chovendo gatos e cães', não faz o mínimo sentido. Na verdade, uma boa tradução seria "está chovendo canivete", ou seja , está chovendo muito!
